If you didn’t know, Oatmeal is really good for you! It’s full of fiber, helps lower cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar and provide important vitamins and minerals. Yep, all that in a bowl of oatmeal. So its a great breakfast that you can feel good about putting into your body.
Oatmeal is one of my go to quick breakfast options. But basic oatmeal can get kind of boring so I decided to jazz it up a bit. My banana almond butter oatmeal still calls for quick oats so it’s ready in no time, but I add in banana, almond butter and dash of cinnamon to make it special plus it keeps you full until lunch. If breakfast is not your thing, then maybe it should be!
Banana Almond Butter Oatmeal
This classic oatmeal is everything you love plus more! I've added bananas, almond butter and a dash of cinnamon to make it special and keep you full until lunch.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Oats (instant oats) * see note
- 1/2 cup Milk (any variety) *see note
- 1/2 cup Water
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 Banana, mashed
- 1 1/2 tbsp Almond Butter
- 1 tbsp Flax Seed
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Optional Toppings:
- 1/2 Banana, sliced
- Sprinkle of Brown Sugar
- Sliced almonds
Instructions
- Add milk & water to a small pot and bring to a low boil.
- Next add the mashed banana, almond butter, flax seed and honey. Stir to combine.
- Add oats and pinch of salt.
- Cook for 1 minute and remove from the heat. The oatmeal will thicken as it stands. So depending on how thick or thin you like it cook accordingly! If its too thick add more milk.
- Top with fresh sliced bananas & sprinkle with brown sugar
