Air Fryer Chicken Thighs are one of my favorite go-to dinners on busy weeknights. I’m always looking for an easy way to get a delicious meal on the table with minimal effort, and this is truly the best way. With just a little bit of seasoning and a quick cook time, the air fryer does all the hard work. The result is an easy chicken dinner that’s juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and a simple recipe the entire family can enjoy.

What is an Air Fryer?
If you haven’t jumped on the air fryer train yet, let me tell you—it’s a total game changer in the kitchen. An air fryer works by circulating hot air around your food, kind of like a mini convection oven. The result? Crispy, golden outsides with tender, juicy insides, all without needing to deep fry. It’s faster than using a traditional oven, super easy to clean, and gives you that “fried” texture with just a fraction of the oil.
Ingredients for easy air fryer chicken thighs:

Chicken Thighs
4 chicken thighs, skinless and boneless. It doesn’t really matter if you use boneless chicken thighs or bone-in chicken thighs. The only difference will be in the cooking time. If you use bone-in chicken, they will take longer. Skin on vs. skin off? If you like crispy skin, then I recommend trying thighs with the skin on. Air-fried chicken thighs result in really crispy chicken skin. Not into the skin? Opt for skinless chicken thighs.
Olive Oil
2 tablespoons olive oil.
Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
Dried Oregano
1 teaspoon of dried oregano.
Paprika
1/2 teaspoon of paprika.
Salt
1 teaspoon of salt. I like Kosher salt, but regular salt is okay, too.
Black Pepper
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
Air Fryer Chicken Thighs Recipe
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Season the chicken: Add the chicken thighs to a large bowl or zip-top bag. Sprinkle in garlic powder, oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and toss until every piece is evenly coated. (Optional: marinate 10–15 minutes while the air fryer preheats for extra flavor.)
- Preheat: Set the air fryer to 400°F and preheat for 3–5 minutes.
- Load the basket: Place chicken thighs, smooth side down, in a single layer with a little space between pieces. If your chicken has skin, place the chicken in a single layer skin side down.
- Air-fry (first side): Cook for 8–10 minutes.
- Flip: Turn thighs over and continue cooking for another 7–10 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
- Check doneness: Use an instant-read thermometer/meat thermometer in the thickest part of the thigh—thighs should reach 165°F for safety. If needed, air-fry in 2–3 minute bursts until they do.
- Rest: Transfer to a plate and let rest 3–5 minutes so juices redistribute.
- Serve: Slice or serve whole with your favorite sides.
Notes & swaps: Any spice blend works—try chili powder + cumin, lemon pepper, or Italian seasoning. If your thighs are very large, add a few minutes; if smaller, start checking early. Always go by internal temp for perfect results.

And that’s it—juicy, flavorful, and ready in no time! These crispy air fryer chicken thighs are the easy recipe I lean on when I want dinner fast without sacrificing taste. With minimal prep and a short cook time, they’re perfect for busy nights when you still want something homemade. Whether you serve them with veggies, rice, or a side salad, this simple recipe is the kind of easy chicken dinner your whole family will love—and the best way to keep weeknight meals stress-free.
